Webinar 7 Making Life Easier – Adaptations in Cerebral Palsy

The Neuroaid & Research Foundation (NRF), in collaboration with the Delhi Branch of AIOTA, conducted its 7th national webinar titled “Making Life Easier – Adaptations in Cerebral Palsy” on 29th November 2025, bringing together parents of children with Cerebral Palsy, occupational therapy students, and professionals. Held in the week leading up to World Disability Day and to commemorate the World Occupational Therapy Day, the webinar reinforced the collective commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and meaningful participation for children with disabilities.

The programme focused on strengthening practical understanding of ADL adaptations, seating and posture management, functional splinting, low-tech assistive devices, and the growing role of AR/VR technologies in rehabilitation. It began with an introductory audiovisual clip followed by a warm welcome from Mrs. Rajalakshmi Chandru (Trustee and Chief Functionary , NRF) and an overview of objectives by Dr. Monika (HOD Occupational Therapy & Joint head Administration, NRF). In his keynote address, Dr. Neeraj Mishra highlighted the evolving role of Occupational Therapy in CP care and the importance of adaptive technologies in enhancing functional independence.

The first session featured Dr. Anita Gupta (Former HOD, AIIPMR, Mumbai), who shared in-depth insights on ADL strategies and practical seating solutions that improve stability, comfort, and daily participation, followed by Dr. Shovan Saha (Additional Professor, Dept. of OT, Manipal College of Health Professionals), who discussed functional splints and accessible low-tech assistive devices, emphasising cost-effective, clinically relevant adaptations that families and therapists can easily incorporate.

The second session focused on the integration of technology into rehabilitation practice. SparshMind Innovations presented an engaging and informative segment on the role of AR/VR in Cerebral Palsy, explaining how immersive digital tools can enhance motor learning, engagement, and therapeutic outcomes. NRF in partnership with SparshMind Innovations, showcased a practical case presentation, demonstrating how AR/VR-based interventions can complement conventional therapy and offer children a more motivating and interactive environment for skill development.

Following the presentation, the case was further opened to a panel discussion led by experts, allowing for deeper clinical interpretation, shared perspectives, and practical application. This transitioned into an interactive Q/A session, during which participants sought guidance on home adaptations, therapy planning, splint usage, and technology-assisted interventions.

The webinar concluded with a vote of thanks to all speakers, collaborators, and the NRF team. Participants were thanked for their active engagement, thoughtful questions, and commitment to advancing inclusive, evidence-based care for children with Cerebral Palsy. To acknowledge the participation and contributions, certificates were awarded to all participants and resource persons, acknowledging their commitment.

The 7th NRF webinar successfully created a rich learning environment where clinical expertise, family experiences, and technological innovation came together to address the everyday needs of children with Cerebral Palsy. By revisiting traditional OT practices while embracing new digital possibilities, the webinar encouraged participants to adopt practical, accessible, child-centred adaptations that can make daily life easier and more meaningful for children and their families.
