CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) KINESIOLOGY TAPING

Workshop conducted on December 21st, 2025

The Neuroaid and Research Foundation (NRF), in collaboration with K.R. Mangalam University, Gurugram, successfully conducted its 4th Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program on Kinesiology Taping. This event took place at Neuroaid Rehab, Nangal Dewat, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi  on December 21st, 2025. NRF was privileged to have Dr. Sumit Kalra, PhD  mentor this program.

Professionals are encouraged to continually enhance and update their skills, particularly in the light of  rapidly advancing technology within the health sciences sector. CPD  helps broaden professionals’ perspectives to new concepts, enables practitioners to learn and identify effective methods for improving patient care, stimulate innovation, and contribute to serving the community with contemporary trends and techniques, in addition to supporting career advancement.

About the Mentor
Dr Sumit Kalra, PhD is a distinguished professor at K.R. Mangalam University Gurugram, bringing more than two decades of extensive clinical and academic experience with him. Dr Kalra demonstrated a profound understanding of various techniques, therapeutic approaches, muscle classifications, and treatment modalities.

Taping has become an inclusive and integral part of physiotherapy, as it supports treatment across all ages, conditions, and functional levels, while being adaptable, non-invasive, and patient-centered.

The workshop was attended by 10 professional therapists and 6 students from various institutions, all of whom participated with enthusiasm. The workshop began with introductions, followed by a comprehensive theoretical session on Taping, which included discussions on indications, contraindications, and ethical considerations for its application

The workshop was greatly enhanced by  practical demonstrations. It proved to be a highly interactive session, with active exchange of information, especially as a number of participants were learning about this technique for the first time. Discussions included  specific conditions where taping would be advantageous, appropriate tape for various muscles and joints, and positioning of both the patient and the therapist.

The practical hands-on sessions proved to be exceptionally beneficial, as real-time treatment assists therapists in gaining greater confidence and refining precision. During the practice sessions, many participants initially exhibited reluctance and apprehension regarding tape usage, but Dr. Kalra insisted that each participant demonstrates the technique in his presence, which contributed to the workshop’s complete effectiveness and productivity.Clinical reasoning was reinforced by correlating taping techniques with functional assessment findings and treatment goals.

Dr Kalra thoroughly explained how taping integrates effectively into a comprehensive treatment plan alongside other modalities, such as exercise and electrotherapy.

Following the conclusion of the workshop, the team had the pleasure of being photographed with Dr. Sumit Kalra. He expressed his delight at the enthusiasm and energy of the NRF team and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors. Certificates of successful completion in Kinesiology Taping were then presented to all participants.

A token of our appreciation was presented to Dr Kalra for the highly educational one-day hands-on workshop. NRF plans to continue facilitating such workshops on emerging techniques for its professionals and will also expand participation to external candidates in future.
